She was right. One thing that was lost in all of this to some degree was that Mary Elizabeth Winstead was herself married to her high school sweetheart who had been in a relationship with her for almost 15 years since he was 16 and was prepping his second film as a writer / director with her scheduled to star when she left him. Imagine giving someone half your life only to have them leave you for someone with a lot of money and a big, famously filmed lightsaber.

He and his wife had been separated for five months, they were obviously going through major issues and the relationship was on it's way out the door. Winstead was also separated at the time. And his kid was 22 at the time, that's way past being an adult. Not like he left a newborn with a single mom and I bet if she ever needed anything her daddy would get it for her
