LANGUAGE ARTS | Homeschool Curriculum Choices for 2022-2023 | Language Arts Curriculum Reveal Collab

In this video I will go through my language arts picks for all my kids in 4th, 5th, 6th, and 7th grade for the 2022-2023 school year. Also, this video is a part of a collaboration hosted by Shauna from Homegrown Homeschool and myself with some other homeschool moms here on YouTube. This video is a part of a 4-part series in which I will be "revealing" what we will be doing in regards to 1) family subjects, 2) math, 3) language arts, and 4) electives and extras.

I just checked out the sample videos from Word Up...That is exactly how I would want to learn vocab! They look fun!

Word up looks great! Both my kiddos are on the spectrum and learn really well through video and vocabulary is a big focus I want for them.
I have the MCT language teacher books, but I’ve never used them 😬
We live IEW Fix it grammar but only made it halfway through one of the history based writing. I think your smart to break it up over two years.
I have really enjoyed your channel. Keep it up!

The Word Up subscription sounds fun!
My kids love Explode the Code. This upcoming year will be the first year for grammar, my oldest will be 3rd grade. I will probably be using Spelling Wisdom and Using Language Well from Simply Charlotte Mason, although I also have the book Simply Grammar by Karen Andreola and also found a course called Gentle Grammar that is a free download! I'll look over them all this summer and decide what we're doing. I love the Critical Thinking Company and plan on using Word Roots for my oldest too. My son who is sorta 1st-2nd grade will continue with Level 3 of SCM's Delightful Reading and Explode the Code.
Thanks for sharing these picks!

Wow, I had not heard about Compass Classroom before and I love the look of Word Up and their creative writing courses. I think I will start with the Bog Owl course as those books were brilliant and we have already read them. We did Sing School Latin a few years back and we really loved finding out about how our English words came to be so Word up would be ideal. Plus it is digital so I don't have to deal with overseas postage!

MCT reminds me just slightly of the old book Grammar Land. I read that book aloud to my children this past year and it was a fun way to learn about the parts of speech. Grammar Land is an old book so it's available in the public domain.

I hope you guys enjoy MCT! We're trying our first year of Explode the Code with my kindergartener and I think it's going to be a good time! My oldest saw some of the things I picked up for his little sister and he's now asking me if he can also do it, so I might pick up some of the later levels now too 😊

I would like to try word up :)

My 3 daughters used the Queen Language Lessons all the way through high school (we only went up to the high school review one in 9th grade). I always worried if it was “enough”. It was!!! One girl got a perfect on ACT English and reading and the other two near perfect. All three excelled in college writing courses. (At a rigorous Ivy League university) Will use again with my two little ones.

I've used Easy Grammar and IEW in the past. I also like to use lists to help choose good literature for my daughter to read. I will have to look into Book Shark's book list. I have a child that struggles with spelling, so I'm interested in Spelling U See as well. Word Up looks interesting and something I will have to look into. I agree that learning Latin roots are important in developing a strong vocabulary.

Wonderful choices! Do you have a video on how you pace IEW throughout the week/month/school year. I like slowing it down, because I don't think it's necessary to be doing a paper a week (which I believe is how the program is originally planned).
