I literally did this as a challenge without downloading any samples but the frank ski one and it’s hilarious how much your deconstruction and thought process lines up with mine. The only real differences that I used stylus to make the 808 to give it that distortion because I recognized the waveform of it. I didn’t realize that sausage fattener on a standard sine wave 808 would make the same sound or I could have saved some time (I also didn’t have any trap rimshots so I had to repitch and EQ a shallow trap snare to get a similar sound)
