lol.. I remember writing the joke it's a pun with php's $ variable (incorrectly written I know— to pass comment filter) and google's desire for $cha-ching. When you think about it the faster google can push results the faster it can server ads hence enhance faster click-through rates. Google instant is an example. Like any business the decisions or motives it has is more it to do with profit than what's genuinely effective for it's clientele.

Yes, web 2.0 is quite old now and Web 3.0 is more relevant, but guess what...most of the features of 2.0 are here for quite some time... we still have people who are very email centric and are barely getting the features of old.
