the index actually comes with 2.0 base stations, there are some differences, but for most people, most of the time, the experience is the same, i use my 1.0 basestations with my index.


also just a point about the tracking, lighthouse tracking is in fact inside out, the lighthouses do not track your headset, the lighthouses emit an infrared laser pattern and once setup, they know where they are, they know where the playspace is, and they sync together to coordinate all the data properly, the headset then tracks its movements within that space by detecting that pattern using infrared sensors instead of cameras like the rift S or quest. the base stations basically just create the playspace out of lasers, and the headset tracks itself inside that playspace.


the nice thing is now you can get the index and controllers for just $750 instead of buying the full kit. or you can even just get the controllers if you like.


the vive wands are not very well liked, i actually enjoyed them personally, and i do have big hands so they felt comfortable for me, obviously the index controllers are much better, but i did like the track pads, and having both sticks and pads is great. the vive wands are obviously dated, i think a lot of people forget the rift originally came with no controllers. the vive wands predate the original touch controllers by 9 months. they're now almost 4 years old, which is ancient for the VR market.


I'm sure this will be a decent headset, but the issue with it comes down to price, $900 is just insane considering this comes with 4 year old base stations and controllers. you'd be crazy to buy this over an index set. you will of course have a great time with it, but you have to remember it in context of the price. also HTC customer service is notoriously bad.

You could change the Vive cosmos faceplate with the elite faceplate and it's interchangeable and Vive cosmos faceplate and the elite faceplate can be switch

PD..just want to help with hand heigine..the gloves will be ok.. however, when you were grabbing the headset..it will leave the finger marks from any germ on the glove..just saying..I just finished a hand heigine course mate..
