I'm still a believer in God but haven't known what church to attend. You said study the Bible and pray for the Holy Spirit for understanding. Then attend a church inline with that. Certainly the SDA believe in higher education, build educational institutions where I’ve never seen any from watchtower. Helping the community where I’ve not found watchtower to be the same. Churches open their doors to visitors, people walked into church without being invited and returned.

You are completely right: Only trust in Christ: I agree all the Christian Churches have their theology, but people are encouraged to think for themselves and even question one own faith: That is the basis of Faith and not indoctrination.

Winston, I have a problem with certain noises as well. The worst time ever was on a flight, it was a small Focker and the noise was so irritating I felt really sick, something like sea sickness. But generally, some noises like the constant barking of a dog or the sound of a cricket can be horrible. It seems as if there are certain, constant pitches that do it. I don't know the solution but I find that ear plugs can help in certain circumstances. I think it would in your church.

I was at a very noisy restaurant and couldn't even hear what my family were saying but the noise was bothersome. I put in some ear plugs and it reduced the background noise and I couldn't believe it but I could actually hear those at my table.

The wt uses the techniques that the POW's went through by their captors. It's in Steven Hassan's book. It's all about control, not the religion.

I completely agree that we have to gather together as believers like the Bible says, the problem with most of ex-JWs is that when they leave the WT they are so fragile and vulnerable, I believe they need to take some time alone to heal and read the Bible alone prayerfully, with HONESTY, HONESTY is what matters to God, I have faith that God will lead them to a group of true bible believers, whatever their group's name is. Some of the ex-JWs who still believe in God are able to find good Bible believing churches right away, but most of them fall into bad groups: PROSPERITY GOSPEL CHURCHES, UNITARIAN CHURCHES, other "christian" cults, and these are the ones that kill the remnant of the faith they have in God, not only with other damnable heresies, but also with bad things that are going on in these groups. It's important not to rush them into going to local churches if they are confused after leaving the WT, they need some time to clear things up in their lives first, and they need to BUILD A TRUE RELATIONSHIP WITH GOD.
IT'S PRIMORDIAL FOR A BELIEVER TO HAVE PRIORITIES: THE RELATIONSHIP WITH GOD COMES BEFORE THE RELATIONSHIP WITH BRETHREN. Too many Christians focus on their relationship with other humans, if something goes wrong in a church, they will take it as a justification to leave their faith in God. That's because they look on to men, not to God.This is the same thing the WT does to their members: when they are out, they need to take time to build their relationship with God, not with men! They have done that all their lives, AND HAVE BEEN GREATLY DISAPPOINTED BY THEM, BECAUSE THEY FOUND OUT THEY HAD BEEN RELYING ON MEN, WHO MISLED THEM. They have never had a PERSONAL relationship with God! so we have to focus on the PRIORITIES that apply to ALL CHRISTIANS: BUILDING A TRUE PERSONAL RELATIONSHIP WITH CHRIST first, then with men.
And with all the fake churches around now in the whole world, it's very dangerous to send a vulnerable person out there without helping them, to find a good local church. We have to teach them to learn how to stand firm in God, independently of whatever may go wrong in a local church.
