Minimum wage is great! If you’re in high school and not supporting yourself

“Work hard to get promoted” so youre saying it isnt enough then..?

Work harder to get promoted…in companies that don't promote—or have no hierarchy other than supervisor (which is held onto for YEARS).

They are looking at it from an individual standpoint rather than a society one. Getting promoted helps 1 person escape minimum wage, but the other coworkers are still making the same money. Nothing was ever solved.

There's literally not enough jobs to move up if everyone had that logic. Or it's an owner of a small business and all employees of the same level.

The ignorance on the rich side is absolutely outstanding

Next question should’ve been “Who has worked minimum wage?” And should’ve been followed up with details as to how long they did so before moving on, quitting, or getting fired.

I believe this would shed some light to verifying who can attest to experience versus pulling things out of thin air.

"I work harder to get promoted then"
All managers: "Can't promote you yet because you're valuable to production"

You need more context for the minimum wage situations. For example, if there's no moving up, there's no incentive to work harder. If there are no incentives to work harder, the employer shouldn't complain if you're working at a comfortable pace.

You work hard and get promoted to team lead or supervisor and it’s always .50 cents or a dollar more and 3x as much work.

The rich people are conveniently forgetting that "moving up" and leaving minimum wage jobs usually requires an education and degrees as well. Not everyone has access to funds for tuition, transportation, etc. But your drive and motivation to get to your goals by any means possible does matter as well.

Minimum wage should be a standard for jobs for people who are 18 and older, so they can make what’s called a living wage not just the minimum amount the government requires. There needs to be a definitive difference challenged.

Rich people sometimes are some oblivious🤦‍♀️

I find both of these arguments to be true, BUT the thing to keep in mind is there are places that reward hard work and there are places that don't...and you don't always get to choose which your at.

Every raise in minimum wage, which is federal by the way, and not state, will cause inflation. The business pays you more, has to charge more, in a vicious cycle. If they have to pay you more, they hire less people, and may replace you with a machine.

MINIMUM WAGE- The purpose of the minimum wage was to stabilize the post-depression economy and protect the workers in the labor force. The minimum wage was designed to create a minimum standard of living to protect the health and well-being of employees.

Isnt it hilarious how all the rich peoples solution was just “make more money”😭😭😭 when that wasnt even the question. If u cant afford even the worst apartments on the market then its not enough. Housing is another issue in itself tho

Most places that pay minimum wage are gonna pay u as little as possible for as long as they can and try to get the most out of you the whole time.

15hr isn’t that bad to start, the problem is that it’s not easy to get a raise typically! You really need to make them feel like they rely on you more than anyone else and even than it’s not guaranteed!

Nobody is addressing the real problem. Population. As long as labour is so easily substitutable, you cannot expect employers to increase wages. Coz they'll always find someone else who is willing to work for minimum wage, or less.
