So... Why is Mario Kart World an $80 Game?

Why is Mario Kart World on Nintendo Switch 2 $80? Did the New Nintendo Direct give a good explanation for WHY it's so expensive? I'm not so sure if it's worth the price.

Don’t worry about being ‘negative.’ Being ‘negative’ about an $80 game isn’t negative, it’s just sane. Like you say, I’ve been a fan of Nintendo my whole life - but their pricing now is just scummy greed. I’ve really changed my mind about Nintendo.

In 2017, Nintendo sold the 2DS WITH MARIO KART 7 INSTALLED ON IT for $80. In 2025, Mario Kart World by itself is $80. Why do we have to live in this reality? 😭😭😭
