SEAT Ibiza 2015 review - Car Keys

The Ibiza sits just below the Leon hatchback in the Spanish brand’s range and, just like its hatchback sibling, shares its underpinnings with a ubiquitous VW model – the Polo.

Although similar to the Polo when it comes to its technical blueprints, the exterior appeal of the Ibiza is much different, with a more stylish demeanour that is likely to attract younger drivers.

We take the Ibiza for a spin to see what it can do.

Can the Ibiza really tackle models like the Volkswagen Polo? Watch our video review above to find out, or skip to bits of key information using the links below:

Having bought a 64 plate 1.2 TSI FR, I can honestly say it's a joy to drive. At first I was sceptical about a 1.2 rather than the 1.4 but in all honesty it's perfectly fine as the car is quite light. The other thing to note is that if you drive this car carefully, you will quite easily see north of 50mpg average, granted when you plant your foot into the carpet this does diminish quite rapidly!

With regards to the styling, I've got the 3 door SC model, and whilst all car reviews effectively churn out the brochure figures,  I have to agree where is says getting in and out of the back isn't exactly elegant! Also, the space is somewhat limited when you're back there (wouldn't recommend for 3 adults on a long journey in the back), but that said you buy a car for you to enjoy and it is certainly enjoyable!

As much as I like VW, the Seat's have infinitely better styling.

Apparently the new all new shaped ibiza is set for 2017. I love my ibiza FR. Get it unlocked or remapped for around £70-£100 and it'll get up to 150bhp on a 1.2TSI. FROM 105 the extra 45bhp comes in handy.

It's good to see a simple. straight forward road test, although you do speak rather fast.  I was disappointed though at your comments about interior room.  You said head room was a problem and there wasn't enough leg room, yet you clearly had plenty of both.  I assume therefore, that you are either very short, or your remarks were a tad out of context.  From my limited experience, the SEAT range offers everything that the VW range offers (and more if you count the Leon Experience) at less money with very little in the way of compromises.  Add to that the idea of not driving what everyone else drives and a SEAT makes a LOT of sense.

What a pity that you guys were given an old Ibiza to try, with old engines.
Ever heard of the 1.0 litre turbo charged 95/110 hp engines?

Do love Car Key's reviews but theyre abit utilitarian, needs abit more excitement to really make it.

I've driven a VW Polo for 2 and half years and no other small car matches it for out and out quality inside and out.  I've owned or more recently tested many small cars and the Polo beats them all for the 'X' factor and overall solid feel.  However, I have very recently tested a couple of Ibiza's and in my opinion they are not far removed from the Polo so the 'scratchy' plastics thing I feel could be misleading.  The Ibiza is a better looking car, I've always thought that and would not argue otherwise.  Incidentally, i am hoping to replace the Polo this year with a Seat Leon and having test driven one albeit the ST (I want the 5 door hatchback) then I have to say what a lovely car that was (quiet engine, quality cabin, very good fuel economy, very comfortable).

Have they dropped the 1.4 85PS naturally aspirated petrol engine?
