You can get Record Suspension for sexual based assaults involving a minor, as long as the offence was committed BEFORE MARCH 12, 2012. Even if the case is a historical one and you only went to court for it in 2015 but the act was committed in 1998 you would be grandfathered under the old legislation.

It is taking the government over a year to process summary offenses. Their website indicates 6 months but I know someone who just received it and it took 18 months, & that was with calling them frequently.

I just want to work! I just F'd up once in my entire life and now I gotta struggle for 10 whole years to get a pardon to basically get a job because every job want a clean criminal background! I already did my time and probation with no issues. Not saying I'm going to go do something stupid but you wonder why some people do. The system has people trapped and frustrated. It's like people are being judged for the rest of their lives.

Ok but what if you did a crime in your home country, does the Canadian court system recognize your crimes from a foreign land? Can you get a pardon for that?
