it is nothing more than mental maths once you remember that 6^x=(2^x)(3^x) so equation becomes [3^x + (2^x)(3^x)]/3^x=3 => [(3^x)(1+2^x)]/3^x=3

=>1+2^x=3 =>2^x=2 therefore x=1

Well, the two methods differed with the algebraic simplification that had to take place, while the rest was based on the basic laws of exponents.

After seeing the video's thumbnail, I pretty much solved in the 2nd method shown in the video, but later on realised that most of simplification part was involved with unnecessary steps.

Good video nevertheless.
