2015 Mitsubishi Outlander Sport, CVT Programming and Set Up, With No CD or QR Code

This video takes us through the process of programming/coding a new replacement CVT transmission to a 2015 Mitsubishi Outlander Sport. The transmission did not come with an installation CD, a QR code or any instructions on what needed to be done. The transmission was purchased on line. The vehicle owner had contacted the seller for help, they called in a mobile programmer and contacted the local dealer. No one was able to get the job done.

I looked into the problem and read over the notes from everyone that had been involved in this scenario. I attempted to complete the job with my Autel MaxiSys 908P scan tool. I was not successful in that attempt but must admit that I did not have a current subscription either. I found out recently that it might be quite simple with a current subscription and a QR code. This transmission did not have a supplied QR code.

In my research into the situation I found out that Mitsubishi supplies an affordable programming solution for this problem . Affordable however does not translate into easy. Well, that may not be exactly true. In the end, it is fairly simple as long as you have a laptop, a compatible VCI, twenty bucks and a little time.

In this video I try my best to give as much information as possible to get through this process. I am sure there are details that are missing and if you care to comment I will do my best to answer and fill in the blanks. What I would really like to do is to find someone in my area (coastal South Carolina) that needs this done so that I could record the whole thing.

This video was SUPER helpful. I had a weird glitch on the Mitsubishi website that it wasn't pulling up the Calibration file because the original VIN was missing from the server, then the 2nd VIN didn't match the year of the transmission even though they were the same part number. It was a 2018 going into a 2016. So, I googled a 2018 VIN, put that on the website with the transmission serial number and it gave me the file. Thank you for your video, I was going crazy with their website!

Just a quick tip on the MUT3 software. The all DTC scanning button becomes available once you select a FAST/IMMO/Keyless/TPMS type. Yours is not selected in the video. Thanks for the explanation on transmission programming!

Looks like a fun time I’m going to be doing this tomorrow or sometime this week for sure. Snap-on and Autel scan tools have these options I’ve got the calibration file removed and the code off the replacement so just got to do the J2534 calibration up load.

Great video mate, I did replace the transmission on my Outlander 2015 4WD but the car doesn't turn on. I did get to turn on once but engine behaved with erratic idling. Do yo thinkg after this reprogramming this issue will be fixed? I can tell is something locking the car because I can hear the fuel pump when spinning the key but nothing else, not even starter motor make any sound.

Aamco has had my car for 4 months saying he installed the rebuilt transmission and hes reprogramming the cvt hes reprogramming for 3 weeks now does that sound right hes saying it takes time oh yeah this car is a 2016 outlander
