NOW MORE DELICIOUS!? Fanta Orange Soda New vs. Old Review

Fanta Orange soda is supposedly "Now More Delicious" but I'll be the judge of that. Let's crack open bottles of the old and new formulas and see which one comes out on top.

This reminds me of the “New Coke” debacle. I didn’t know about this change and wound up getting one with my lunch today. I knew something was wrong with the first mouthful, then saw “now more delicious” on the label. I hope they come out with “Classic Fanta orange” soon, because I’m not drinking the new stuff.

Not a big change here in the states, but in Canada they changed their orange Fanta from the Euro style orange juice containing one which tasted more like carbonated sweetened orange juice to the US style which is classic Americana orange soda that tastes like orange candy not actual orange.

Now THATS a shame, I used to stock up on that stuff on visits to Canada because it’s so good (tastes a lot like Polar Orange dry in the states but more orange soda-ey). I loved it because it tasted like a feverdream if you imagined orange juice coming out fresh squeezed but with Sparkling candy vibes lol.

I like both versions. The old one tasted more like Orange Tootsie Pops and the new one tastes like Mandarin Orange cups. I think I like the new one a little better.

SAPP is a stabilizer, and balances pH in the drink. Without it, the pH can go wonky, and you can perceive odd tastes, including less of an "acid" taste, making the new one taste less "natural, " and more like a fizz made with a soda water gun. Mix the old with old-school soda water (bicarb tank), and see if it tastes like the new. Probably will.

Companies change their cans all the time. I actually ignored it at first. But every time i'd take a sip. It was like "nah, that don't taste right." I'm dropping this new stuff like a hot rock. Until they bring back classic or at least give us the option. Cause whatever this is, this ain't it.

I honestly LOVE the new flavor! It tastes like the Fanta from restaurants since at the restaurants they’re super sweet! Super delicious!

My son doesn't drink a lot of soda. He is, however, a hugh Orange Fanta fan. Well, I should say WAS, as he absolutely HATES the new recipe. Whenever we come across the old recipe, he buys as much as he can with his own money and puts it under lock and key. I have bought some and have hidden them away for birthday and Christmas gifts.

Found an older style Fanta on close out price. Never had it before and got hooked! Looked it up to find they aren’t producing them anymore! I went back and got about 10 bottles.

I tried the new style one and it was so shockingly bad. But I found if I added Minute Maid juice to it it can come close.

Eh I'll stick with Crush on the rare occasions I want an orange soda. More fake equals more delicious I suppose.

I'm so iffy on these companies changing formulas. I loved Pepsi Twist when it first came out, but by the time it went away they changed the formula twice. I still liked it but not as much as that first year. I drank Orange Crush through most of the 1970s but over the years they've changed the formula so much I can barely drink it now. Then there is the improved Pepsi Zero and Coke Zero which I love much more than the previous formulas. I don't drink orange soda much at all anymore except for the Sprecher Orange Dream and that's only every 3 or 4 months. Found 12pks of Spark Zero Sugar today/ Haven't seen them here for months. Only 2 cases and I got them both. That gives me PB Zero, Pepsi Zero and Spark Zero. That' will do me until Summer Freeze hits then Passionfruit.

I pray the day never comes that they switch to the European style Fanta. There's an amazing orange Fanta that is made in the Bahamas that tastes like Lifesavers orange.
