Frankly all this is bs. The best Hindi films in this country were produced by the government body NFDC at shoestring budgets. You go to the history of cinema, and it is repeatedly demonstrated how very simple movies made on very tight budgets defined entire eras of cinema (Bicycle Thieves is the most famous example). The budgets of these movies are inflated first because of the ridiculous cheques of the big stars, then all the luxury logistics, set, costume bookings. These things are entirely unnecessary. Then there's the huge money being spent on VFX without working on the plot. Not saying there should be no VFX but the budgets are bloated.
If the government revives NDFC and actually funds quality projects at tight budgets, all these big bollywood monopolies will be forced to compete. Right now they are serving trash at ridiculous budgets.

Ab remakes chal nahi Rahi kyunki log original dekh rahe hai. And for the good part bollywood still is doing the same remakes because they never had own stories.
