The idea that makes most sense to me is that we are basically a consciousness that is neutral by nature but can go in absolutely any direction aka you can be absolutely anything you choose to be.

I showed this to my 14 years old nephew who was bagging C & D in school. The next day, he told me: uncle, I think I’m gonna run for Senate one day. The following months, he started to record B+ and A-

This speaks to the immense power of the human mind and its ability to overcome challenges, break through limitations, and achieve extraordinary feats. The idea is rooted in the understanding that mental strength and resilience play a critical role in determining the outcomes of our endeavors, whether in personal growth, professional achievements, or overcoming adversity. Often, our minds set boundaries that may feel insurmountable, but once we challenge those boundaries and tap into our potential, we discover that we are capable of much more than we initially believed.

This concept emphasizes the importance of a growth mindset, which fosters the belief that abilities and intelligence can be developed with effort, learning, and perseverance. It's not about denying the importance of physical or external factors, but recognizing that our mindset our thoughts, attitudes, and beliefs has the potential to shape our reality. In many cases, the difference between success and failure is not the presence of obstacles but the willingness to push through them, adapt, and grow.

In the context of health and well-being, mind over matter plays a vital role in recovery and resilience. People who believe in their ability to heal or improve, even in the face of illness or injury, often experience better outcomes because they are more likely to take proactive steps, follow treatment plans, and maintain a positive outlook. Mental focus can also be crucial in physical performance, whether in sports or daily tasks. For example, athletes who cultivate mental discipline and focus often outperform expectations, demonstrating the power of mind over the physical body.

The principle of mind over matter also highlights the importance of self-belief. Self-doubt can often prevent us from pursuing opportunities or stepping outside of our comfort zones, but when we cultivate confidence in our abilities, we open the door to greater possibilities. The journey to achieving more begins with the belief that we are capable of doing so, and then taking the steps to turn that belief into action.

In conclusion, "Mind Over Matter" is a powerful reminder that we all have untapped potential, and with the right mindset, determination, and focus, we can accomplish more than we think. The limits we perceive are often self-imposed, and by challenging these limits, we can break free from them and unlock new opportunities for growth and success.

Omg, I’ve been connecting the disconnected my entire life and I feel like “Am I the only one having this kind of thought?” I question my own way of thinking and now I’m grateful with the way I think. Thank you for your brilliant speech.

It turned out to be exactly what she said it wouldn't: a motivational talk.

It is well executed and she seems very confortable with the stage and this type of presentantion.

Content-wise I have concerns though. I felt like her premises were conveniently chosen with no backup information at all.

There's a moment when I saw a contradiction as well. The part when she says that in order to not get stressed by consequences, one should project how would it affect you in the future (5 years, 10 years from now, etc). The problem is that the projection is the very source of anxiety in the example. It is because the person doesn't know the future that the consequences of current actions are paralizing, so to rely on a "faulty" projection of the future can cause even more anxiety.

Well, only my thoughs on the matter.

If the presentation worked for you, then I'm glad!

Cheers

“Sometimes, the boundaries between the body and the mind are blurred.”

Not only sometimes, they are one and the same (perception), the body is one and the same with all life (microbiomes), and life is one and the same with everything (the elements that make up life are forged in supernovae)!

I love this! I especially love the idea of setting a fake deadline. I’ve done that, and it works. At first, I needed a consequence/reward to keep the deadline. After experiencing the thrill of being done early, the THAT was my reward.
