Watching an IM commentate on an improving players live game might be the most instructive thing I have ever seen on YouTube.

These videos have improved my game dramatically. Thank you very much. I went from a beginner (400) to a... higher level.. beginner (1000) in one month just watching these videos and talking myself through each move exactly how these videos taught me. Amazing

Although Zack lost all 3 games as a beginner, he has won thousands of hearts for volunteering his game under supervision, for some of the most common mistakes

**when you've never played a proper game of chess in your life but you've watched three of these videos and Zach moves the F-pawn forward**
"oh boy Zach's fucked up this time"

8 years later, this video is still helping people. When talking about "sharks circling", THAT is a perfect analogy for my play this week. I get so excited that Im 2-3 moves from checkmate that I overlook what my opponent has set up. Really glad I found this series.

I love how interactive this is. So many questions for the audience to think about.

This was way more intense than it should have. By the time we got to the second live game I was cheering out loud, just hoping he'd find the moves. You broke my heart Zac!

crazy how simple our mistakes can be, even when sometimes we nail crazy tactics. you have changed my chess playing forever thinking in small increments to slowly gain the upper hand against my opponent
