I wish they wouldn’t call this format “handicap”. It’s the opposite. It’s a “bonus” for the best players whereas handicap tournaments would aim to make everyone have an equal chance to win.

This event Has to be looked at as a five round tournament. Missy has a one stroke lead going into round 2. There is no "handicap." The entire season is Round 1.

Yah this format is the best we’ve ever had, people had 19 events to win it’s fine that the one event at the very end is actually the best players on the top because they’ve been there all year. Actually rewarding good players finally!!!!

So called Handicap is dumb. All tournaments should start off even. I understand the concept, but it is not fair for the bottom 5. They don't stand a chance of winning. Peace!

This format is pretty whack. Making the tournament cutoff of points should earn you an equal footing with everyone. Would lead to a much more exciting tournament.

I do think the points have to mean something in the tour championship. I’m okay with experimenting with formats and people that lead in points should definitely have a large advantage. I’m not sure 10 STROKES for the event is quite the right advantage, it feels a little too much cause that’s a lot in disc golf to overcome but I can’t hate on it cause is it fair if some rando who hasn’t played well all year shows up and takes it down over all the people who consistently put in events and podiums? I don’t think so. I dunno a little ambivalent on the format cause it’s definitely skewing the playing field quite a bit which in FPO will see some movement, but in MPO like I don’t know if it’s possible to overcome that kind of deficit, maybe it shouldn’t be? I dunno…I like the format and think it still needs some work. But I like it more than the match play heats of a few years back cause it’s more fair to the tour points structure. I do think the tour points should come more into it though too…like you can’t just win, you have to win by a point margin…ie Kristin to win would have to in the end be leading the tour points from 3rd, or missy to win would have to fall no farther than x…I hate how meaningless tour points are for a sport that forces players to covet them so much, for them only to be a qualifying metric is really weird. Like it’s entirely feasible to start the tour championship in the tour points lead, not win the tournament but still be in the tour points lead at the end of the tournament and somehow lose the championship…that’s VERY odd…
