1974 Triumph TR6
Why This Car Is Special
The 1974 Triumph TR6 is a two-door sports car that was a stark contrast from the big and heavy American muscle cars of the 60 s and 70 s, this TR6 we have here at Skyway Classics has a modified and supercharged engine under the hood to compliment the light and nimble frame.
It is painted in blue with a tan bucket seat interior and matching convertible top, inline-six engine, chrome and grey aluminum mag wheels with black sidewall performance tires, and a 4-speed manual transmission.

Mechanical
Under the hood is a highly modified 2.5-liter inline-six engine that is supercharged with the blower off to the passenger side topped by a chrome open-element air cleaner, with headers, performance ignition and red spark plug wires, mild cam, black TriumphTune black finned valve covers, and feels a whole lot stronger than the 104 horsepower output figure when it was stock.
Between the fairly low curb weight and the immediacy of the exhaust note in ripping response to application of throttle, acceleration will feel a lot quicker than we’d expected. Historic reports pegged this TR6 as having a mid-eight-second 0-60 time, which seemed almost plausible in the example we drove. In any event, the “sense” of speed was high, even if the (wildly bouncing) speedo needle wasn’t registering much.
The four-speed gearbox has great action of the clutch and well spaced for quick, back-road driving. Our TR6 handles winding roads as the chassis is a Unit Construction body with welded steel construction and the front suspension on a subframe. The brakes are disc front and drum rear.
Our TR6 rides on chrome and grey Konig aluminum mag wheels with black sidewall Goodyear Eagle performance tires to retain the correct ride and stance.
Interior
The TR6 has a great saddle bucket seat interior with black carpet, stereo radio, manual tan convertible top, matching interior and door panels, factory dash with the original factory gauges and wood across the front, wood steering wheel, black shifter boot, black floor mats, floor shifter with wood knob.
Exterior
The deep blue paint shows off the classic lines of the TR6 and this has the bright chrome bumpers front and rear and grille, the tan convertible top, and great chrome trim that makes this one of the best running, driving, and cosmetically restored TR6’s left!
With the paint, the accommodating interior, great motor, and great handling characteristics, this little TR6 is a perfect example of sporty European style and has a great presentation too.
