Any real mechanics know the right tools for the job come from multiple companies, at multiple price points. Snap-on is far from the company it was when many of us started. I have been wrenching part time since I was 13yo. I went full time at 22, and Im turning 45 this year. This is a message to all the new techs joining the industry. You do not have to spend 10's of thousands of dollars to have a decent tool set anymore. Yes I have some snap-on, but Im not one of those tool box queens that have to spend every penny I have on that company. Get a basic set for the first 2 to 3 years, a nice used tool cart or spend $200 at HF for the US general cart. It will go a long way. Make sure this industry is for you before you step foot on any tool truck. Icon tools are great hand tools, as are Gear Wrench, Milwaukee, duralast, and even husky. You dont need a 10k tool chest to change brakes, oil, and tires which is what you will be doing a lot of at the entry level. I wish all of you luck, and my inbox is always open for questions. I'm far from the best, but I will always be straight, and to the point.

I'll never understand the loyalty that people have and feel towards brands. Those brands don't care about people, only the bottom line. Get the tools you can afford to get the job done, keeping in mind that tools are going to get lost or stolen. Trust me, people bringing their vehicles and equipment for you to fix couldn't care less about the tools in your toolbox. Save as much as you can and retire early and without debt

ICON are a decent tool at a reasonable price point. Not a bad way to get started. Unfortunately HF doesn't have readily available in store replacements in the event you lose one. You have to look through a long PDF list on the website, locate the tool you want, and call a 1-800 number with the part number and they mail it to you.

i love how people make videos to make excuses based on comments from strangers

Snap off is still number one for quality control and tool strength, but you can’t beat that price for the icon

If the material deform it’s not really a slip call that pretty damn good for a cheap wrench. The wrench really didn’t fail.

Idk why I was hoping it would not only bite hard enough to not slip but also that it would twist that bar as if the wrench was made out of adamantium 😂

If you make these kinds of videos, it is best to ignore the comments after. People don’t understand things.

It’s funny because I have both the cheap Pittsburg ones and the icon ones, but unless I have a defective icon set the icon wrenches slip first. I think there is a trade off/balance between strength and tool thickness that people aren’t also considering.

Flank drives work. I have an older set of snap on, I have a set of craftsman, at the house we got a set of husky.

If you slip with a Flank drive it's not the right tool for the job.

All this hooplah is silly.

The thing is watch videos of breaker bars and other stuff, icon will hold and snap on will break first, they both have the same warranty and they both are pretty much made together

Usually people that complain about stuff they dont know nothing about never worked a day as a mechanic probably dont even know how to check the oil or change a tire

Are you building the Nissan Micro units at the dealer? I see one in the back. I can never seem to find parts for them.
