She followed all the rules and won. Now it's only gold and silver. What is illogical is when u give defeated person a silver. Thats wrong. Change the rules.

he didn't answer the question properly...the question is she should also be given silver medal because she reached final fair and square..?..nobody is questioning her higher weight issue...no issue with the rules ..no issues on her being disqualified for final....but she should get silver coz she won the semifinal fair and square...!!

Ultimately, she weighed 50kg, well within the permissible limits when she won the Semi-Finals. She rightfully deserves the silver.

Your regulations are a bullshit for the following reasons.
Vinesh Phogat reached final after defeating a player remaining in the desired weight category. Now how can that person get silver medal in place of Vinesh Phogat.

It's not about the 100gram, she won in the semi final silver assure so what if she got ill or she decided not to play since she only wanted silver ? No matter what she is already 2nd possibly first, she can be disqualified for next round but she was not disqualified as a victory till semi final

He makes absolute and complete sense. You got to draw the line somewhere. Especially in the world's most foremost competition. Otherwise everyone will be complaining about every microsec, microgram, micro anything.

How Cuban wrestler won silver medal even after losing in semi final and final. Vinesh disqualified before final. Please give bronze or Silver to Vinesh Phogat

Before final match fought her weight in earlier matches were below 50 kgs. So she must be awarded with silver medal by IOC rulings.

Well tbh...He's right.
Its Olympics not some Local competition..
here races are won in thousand of a second..how can rules be bend on behalf of some individual..
My condolences with Phogat..but responsibility lies with her and her support staff.

See I support the IOC here! Rules are rules! We Indians are used to " Kuch adjust karlo na "! But they dont work that way! Instead of people insulting Thomas Bach for not giving her a medal, ask why athletes are not given enough time to cut their weights! They literally have to starve themselves for staying in the weight class! 3 bouts a day isnt easy thing! They have to eat and drink to stay alive! That will increase the weight for sure! Then they are given only some hours to cut their weight! This is dangerous!
We Indians always fight misplaced causes than the real one!

The one who lost semifinals has no right to compete in the finals and win a silver or Gold. That's not fair, especially when the person who can't compete in the finals due to weight disqualification.

It is not cricket, game of just 9 countries out of which 4 is from South Asia. Indians can only swim in a small pond like world of cricket, not in a arena of football and Olympics. Lot of shouting in Indian Parliament by some political parties alleging conspiracy and rigged decision about it, but IOC do not care about barking of dogs. India do not count at all in Olympics, it could not get even 10 medals even after having largest population on the world and it's ranking in world's most popular game Football is 126th.. I live in western world, they laugh at us and openly say that cats and dogs have much better sporting sense. China is about to get 100 medals in Olympics. Cricket and Bollywood that's all
Pathetic and ridiculous. What a shameful ! but if one has sense then he/she can realise it
