This is part of a crucial slope protection system, designed to prevent landslides and mudslides from wiping out roads and infrastructure. These workers risk their lives to secure steep mountain slopes with steel mesh nets.

The process is precise: they align the net, stitch it together using 8mm steel ropes, and fasten it to anchor rods with heavy-duty clips. Each connection is reinforced and pre-tensioned for maximum stability. Once secured, the mesh holds back loose rocks, preventing them from tumbling onto highways below.

But their work goes beyond roads—slope protection also helps preserve cultural heritage sites, including ancient temples built into mountainsides. It’s dangerous work, but without it, the consequences would be far worse.
