A Broward County woman is questioning Broward County's trouble 911 system after receiving no answer while tending to a stroke victim

Well! That 911 dispatcher was either on lunch break, coffee break, phone break, restroom break, texting break, cigarette break, boyfriend girlfriend fighting break, napping break, lazy moments break, etc…. I am exhausted 😴

I think calls are answered on an economic basis, calling from Weston is like the bat signal in the night sky.

Miami Gardens near the stadium. I called 911 multiple times, no answer. Got a call back from a different number about 10 minutes later. This has been going on for some time now. My little sister was with me and couldn't believe it. Thank God we were only reporting a traffic incident.

they just hired people to but also majority calls are being taken for non emergencies incidents. Also they have few staff because no one wants to work there.

Broward County dispatch has all kinds of dispatch issues. Either they take too long to answer OR they ask questions that are meaningless in a time of distress. They ask the same questions over and over even though you have already answered them. Sad... its not that hard to listen and not make people repeat themselves over and over when time is of the essence.

I'm surprised that the story didn't give the one bit of advice that would have been useful. Don't hang up and keep calling back. When you hang up and call back, you go to the back of the line. If she would have let it ring, she would have gotten through. Additionally, all hangups go to an abandoned queue and get called back so by hanging up all those times, she created additional work when those calls were returned later.

I'm as old as Mary Raynor (the lady with the purple shirt), I remember 50 years ago we had a rotary phone at home, but I'm not sure if 911 system existed at that time in our town.
