Just in case there is any confusion - all the demos in this video are 2 Channel Stereo Demos.

He's a good salesman, with a good product.
That said, moving from a single sub, up to six subs, is a significant performance upgrade regardless of the mfr. or type.

Each driver experiencing a fraction of the excursion, fraction of the thermal and magnetic compression, fraction of the settling time, and a 6x improvement in radiating area.

Very importantly, a greater transfer function due to diminished modal behavior in the critical height mode (often ~70hz, critical range for apparent speed/clarity).

He's entirely correct in that any time LF sources are spread in any dimension, acoustic performance is gained in that dimension.

My opinion;
It's not easy for me to believe the improvement of performance is due to his explanation.

I've experienced this in person at my favorite audio store in St. Louis. The 510 six pack audition is why I've switched over to Rel subs. It will change your mind and ideology about the subwoofer. If fills in and gets out of the way of the speakers. It DOES widen and deepen the soundstage of music. This video gives a great example of how it sounds, but it's ....awe inspiring in person. You must take in your own music to REALLY be blown away....but this music did a damned good job.
I owned 4 SVS subs. Now I own three. The rest will soon be replaced by Rel.

I have listened to each of these videos three times and enjoyed them every time.
Put these two videos together with Terry’s video discussing equal loudness curves (ISO 226:2003) and the penny drops as to why these subwoofers bring the music to life. I don’t own subwoofers yet, but I am excited to hear, in person, the positive transformation when they are added to the system. Thank you Terry for taking the time and effort to make high quality recordings so that we can get a better impression of what you were hearing on the day.

I suspect that the REL "perfect filter" is actually the great filter of the Fermi Paradox. Once a species achieves this level of hi-fi, they give up venturing into space and just listen to music until their sun explodes.

So glad you did this video Terry, I wanted to go to Bristol but couldn't make it and it was this system I wanted to see most! I have 2 REL 528se subs, and going from 1 sub to 2 subs makes a huge difference to soundstage and just more natural and effortless! And I only have AVR 550 and B&W MT satellite speakers which are nothing special for sure! Quite happy with my system tho, even if it is getting old lol. Great video cheers!

I have a pair of the S/812 and I was super sceptical when I first bought them thinking "OMG" what have I done, these two subs are a good couple of grand more expensive than my full range floorsanders... Then I installed them and dialled them in and knew without a doubt, I did the right thing, over the past few weeks they've loosened up even further and opened the sound stage even more (initially, I was swapping between the subs in and just my floorstanders and could hear a noticeable quality shift, but 3 weeks later it's significant after they've played in... Turning on my Lyngdorf TDAI-3400 with correction and it's worlds... WORLDS apart... I forgot to turn my subs on the other day and played a nice piano track and it sounded great like the piano was there in the room with me, then I remembered the two subs and turned them on and the sound stage just went super deep and my room was turned into a concert hall, I was in the third row and the piano on the stage... I believe that with sub pairs 2 and 3, bring you into the second and first row in a very realistic way)... I will probably do the exact same thing with pairs 2 and 3 for the full line array over time LOL... But I have no doubt in my mind what John is talking about is absolutely no BS, if you're considering going this route just do it!

So would it make more sense to put the money on smaller main speakers flanked by vertical stacks of REL's vs. going to a "full range" speaker or would a full range speaker flanked by a vertical stack of REL's still be superior?
