Got robbed by a group of 4 in Costa Rica. We were in a group of 8. They had a gun. Doesn't matter how many of you there are or how big you are, a weapon makes a difference. You made the right call by not escalating the situation.

My brother refused to give up his cash, and died of stab wounds at the ER. You certainly did the right thing. 💜

Years ago i watched a video of a lady who by herself roams around the train stations in Barcelona with a whistle, looking for pickpockets and thiefs. She said the police were apathetic to the victims and had enough of them and just started doing this one day. She doesn't have any backing from the police and pretty sure risks her life daily.

As a lifelong citizen of Barcelona, I apologize for what you have had to experience. The politicians of our city and country have made the decision to let crime run wild as well as that the police do not act to stop it.
I feel very bad for everything.
We are also fed up with everything.
Best regards.

As a nieve Aussie tourist I was in the San Fran tourist wharf district and accidentally got off one tram stop too far, 3 guys attempted to take my bag with passport wallet and camera in it, I stupidly resisted and eventually another guy on the street helped me and the 3 young guys ran off, then the guy who rescued me tried to extort me for money lol, I ran to a passing taxi and got away unscathed - I thank GOD I was ok.

My mom got her Rolex stolen by a migrant at the airport in Rome. She didn't even feel the watch come off her wrist--that's how good they are. My mom is South American so nothing scares her, she chased down the thief into the airport bathroom and got her watch back. I'll never forget how impressed the Italian police was.

I got robbed before in broad daylight as well, and people always ask “Why didn’t you chase after the guy?”. But my gut feeling told me not to. Turns out the guy who robbed me had an accomplice waiting for him in a car and within the car there were firearms.

So glad you're safe - this is the type of stuff that really puts me off Barcelona. In the 3 times I've visited, I've never felt uneasy at all or witnessed anything. However, this video will hopefully make people think in future - well done for sharing!

I caught someone stealing my phone out of my pocket in a park in Barcelona…I went full blood American and wrapped his shirt up in my fist and started rag dolling him…and the locals I was with treated me like I was the bad guy. So backwards. Great food tho.

One of my friends ended up in the ER in Paris after having been brutally assaulted for .... a cell phone. He still has a large scar on his skull and suffered PTSD for a while. This happened in a very posh area, Avenue Montaigne, and it was not even night time. Paris and France in general have become extremely dangerous with all these millions of 3 rd world migrants everywhere, especially from Northern Africa.

People don't understand how traumatizing it is until it happens to you. I was robbed one my first day in Paris and I couldn't sleep for days.. I still think about it years later. In Barcelona there are alot of suspicious people.. My sister and I were followed in Barcelona several times. I always said that if I go back, it would be with my husband but it seems that having a tall, big guy beside you doesn't make you "safe".

We got robbed yesterday around 23.00 when walking back to the hotel around Gothic Quarter. Family of 4 - my husband and our 12 year old were in front, myself and 15 year old step behind them. Busy road, lots of tourists. Suddenly two men walked quickly between my husband and daughter from the back and grounded him. They appeared out of nowhere- it lasted split seconds. I don't know how many of them were behind me but someone must have pulled my bag as I fell hard to the ground. I started shouting, my children too, people run out of the restaurant but then the robbers were gone. They took my husbands watch - it was fake so we don't care but it was such a traumatising experience 😢 to be attacked like that, grounded and from the back when you can't see and so vulnerable and with your children. Absolutely awful. My kids are so shaken and were even afraid to sleep alone at night.
We won't be back here for sure..

it’s because of the horrible amount of immigrants that have entered Spain in the new generation, Barcelona is suffering from it the most. We, spanish people are desperate about this.
But in the politics level… nothing is being done to improve this, in fact is going worse with time.

Thank god you are both ok and safe, so sorry you went thru this.

As a member of the watch community, I believe it’s the #1 thing thieves look out for in foreign countries.

How terrifying-I'm relieved that both of you are safe! I've been in that situation and I learned the hard way and was injured. I agree, I know it's difficult in the moment but give them what they want-watch, car, purse. No material possession is worth your life. Possessions are replaceable; you are not. Also, always trust your intuition and don't discount feelings of fear or worry about appearing paranoid or being rude if you need to leave a location immediately. A great book called "The Gift of Fear" by Gavin Debecker is a great read about how to survive similiar situations.

I got robbed twice on the same trip to Barcelona. Once at the Camp Nou, someone stole my camera. Then I got robbed by the VAT pricks at the airport when flying out of the country.

Classic. I’m from Spain, and I would not go to Barcelona even if they pay me to do so. That place is full of North Africans.
