Religions of the indigenous groups tend to be about many spirits or many gods. Near Eastern mythologies also have many male gods and female gods as also seen in the old testament which shows the israel people worshipping many gods including Baal and Asherah, the wife of El. Early christianity seems polytheistic with the main god, the angels, many demons, Satan, Jesus as the son of god, etc. In practice, the catholic religion is polytheistic since catholics pray to the main god Father, Jesus, Mary and the saints (I am not sure if catholics often pray to the holy spirit).
