Just downloaded the mobile version after hearing about my stepdad playing it in the 90’s. Confused rn but hopefully I’ll figure it out lol

I played all of Myst series when they came out. I could not figure out Uru for the life of me though it was complicated and long and I couldn't do one of the jumps across the moving platforms so I quit. Then we got Steam and it opened up all the doors to play it again. In 2020, when boredom took over my life and I decided I needed to figure it out, I finally finish the series. I loved the last one.

You should play the Riven remake that just came out!

Yes, riven! It has absolutely stunning world design, puzzles that are integrated into the lore and environment rather than somewhat arbitrary contraptions, a much more involved story and characters than myst 1, and a satisfying conclusion to both games. Myst and riven together really feel like a two part story, and since you enjoyed myst I highly recommend riven.

The rest of the series is a little more mixed. For example, uru is super fascinating as an artistic experiment but is not great as a game, really. At a minimum, myst 3 is worth playing; its worlds don't have the depth that riven's do but they are fun to explore and it has an entertaining villain. I think it would be tiring to play too many of these games in a row though, so I'd recommend taking a break after riven and returning to the series if/when you feel like it.
