I honestly prefer the chamber version of this piece. It's more pokey and defined. I feel like it poses more shape and character. I also think that the studio recording of the Emerson quartet playing this piece is something to behold. I am lost for words at how they bring out the sinister and aggressive moments and deeply moved by the delicate and sensitive parts. There is a special place in my heart for this piece and it is reserved almost exclusively for the Emerson quartet.

Beautiful, haunting, and The Emerson shows why they are rated so highly.

More people should experience this beautiful piece of music and what it means. It's hard to touch the almost frightening power of the 1985 von Karajan version but this intimate and careful version from the Emerson Quartet still gets the message across.

Era desta música que falei. Um tanto "desconcertante"

This sounds like the musicians are completely unfamiliar with the piece...as if it's their first time playing it. Sounds labored.
This sounds far more true to the fluidity of the piece: watch?v=iEfd9s1p9yQ
