Upgrading Your Norelco Arcitec with SensoTouch 3D Blades

This video reveals that you can upgrade your Norelco Arcitec shaver with SensoTouch 3D blades. Shavers in this video are the Philips Norelco Arcitec RQ 1050, and the SensoTouch 3D 1250x.

I have an Arcitec and replaced the RQ 10 head with the RQ12 and it's an exact fit.
I changed Norelco heads today and I am very happy.
The shafts are the same style and length on both head models, the RQ10 and the RQ12 have exactly the same plug in configuration.

I have tested the the SensoTouch 3D head RQ12 with an Arcitec and the plugs in both heads are exactly the same design.

Awesome video tip!! I just ordered new RQ12 heads for my older Arcitec 1090 RQ10! They were on sale for $55CAD plus taxes and shipping! Under $70CAD. Woohoo!! I can't wait to try the RQ12 blades!

Thank you so much you just saved me a hunk of money! It is time to change the head on my Arcitec 1060X and the price skyrocketed on the replacement head from $43.95 to $174.50 I think they are forcing people to upgrade. Until I saw this video I was going to buy the Senso Touch 3D.

I realize that this post is OLD, but I'll answer anyway -- YES, the RQ12 replacement head snapped right into my 1150X SensoTouch 2D shaver. After only one shave with the new head, it seems to be a worthwhile upgrade.

The plugs in both heads are exactly the same design. The only difference is that my original RQ10 head outer shaft was made of steel and the new RQ12 head outer shaft is made of plastic, but this is a change to reduce manufacturing costs, maybe the new replacements RQ10 have the same plastic shafts. Also the SensoTouch 3D blades or RQ12 are easier to clean, because you can open them to remove the shaving head rings and this is a very big advantage from the RQ10.

No he's not misleading no one, my brother has the Arcitec and got the RQ12 Head about a year ago, and it does fit perfectly and has not damaged the device at all, I know Norelco says it wont fit, but (Duh!) it's obvious that Norelco wants people to buy the entire device & not reuse the older one with a new replacement head, but hey!....It fits perfectly and works just a great!

Have you tried any of the aftermarket replacement heads made for these. I bought one for a Sensotouch 3D. I got the Sensotouch used without a head and had to buy one for it. The aftermarket head was $12. On eBay new. Many sellers sell them $12 to $29. However, I find it doesn't do a very good job shaving my face. My Norelco 5100 does a much better job. I assume it's because my Sensotouch has the aftermarket head on it. I noticed the head I bought for it has different looking screens on it. All straight slots, instead of different shaped slots. Would love to see you do a video comparing the Sensotouch 3d with original head and a aftermarket head to see what you think. I'm going to try and purchase an original head at some point. Would make a good video topic. Cheers!

Please make a video how to change the batteray in this RQ 1050 Arcitec model. My shaver tells me with a red symbol that the blades has to be replaced but im sure it's the battery what causes the replacement symbol to flash. I can feel it, it's not the blades! I know my shaver.

good video, I hope you can help me, I have a razor "philips norelco sensotouch 3D" more than a year ago that I do not use it and today I wanted to do it and did not light anything light, try to load it and also did not start anything. My question is, do you know what is wrong? I hope you help me thanks.

You would have to buy the whole head for the 3D correct? Not just the blades. It looks like the replacement blades are thin and just fit on top of the same head?

I would like to know as well if I can put 3d blades on a 2d model. Thanks and I love your videos man. my Braun Contour 5790 just died after 6 years of loyal service and I am now trying to figure out what to replace it with and considering going with a rotary but I have never used one.

Have you replaced the battery inside the Arcitec? What size is it? I am thinking I need a new one. I love the old Arcitec and would be sad to throw it out. Society today sucks with throw away items!!

oddly enough I have 6000 series razor and the arcitec and sensotouch blades work in it.   Got both an arcitec and sensotouch head for $12 each on clearance.   Not bad.

hi i own a Arcitec & was interested in upgrading to a senso 3d but wont changing the blades lower the effectiveness of the shave ? i mean the speed of the motor and the jet clean system ?
