2025 Toyota Yaris Cross HEV 130 AWD-i: CITY fuel consumption economy real test mpg traffic jam

Here you have the CITY fuel consumption (fuel economy real-life test) of 2024 & 2025 Toyota Yaris Cross 1.5l Hybrid AWD-i in a city (urban area, also in heavy traffic). This car has hybrid system with 1.5l petrol engine (inline-3) + electric motors. System power: 96 kW (130 HP), AWDi, e-CVT automatic transmission. Result: 3.3 l/100 km (71.3 mpg US / 85.6 mpg UK). Travelled time with combustion engine off: 55:40 out of 63:30 = ~87%.

Calculated range on one fuel tank (36 l):
est. range in a city: 990-1090 km | 615-680 mi

As always, I checked real fuel consumption on a petrol station. I noticed NO difference: computer shows exactly the same fuel consumption comparing to what I refueled.

Love your videos and the soundtrack! I just purchased the same car in the UK. Your demonstration on flat terrain at 16C is impressive! Currently it is 9C and where I drive and my daily drive is 0 to 700 feet elevation. Just for others - in this UK current cooler temperature with the altitude climbs and regeneration - I get about 73mpg (imperial UK). Love the car though and it is beating my last diesel (Merc 220d - 57mpg) on the daily commute (duration 1 hour - average speed 30mph). Keep up te good work!

Hi! thank u for the video it was really helpful. I am hesitating to get this hybrid especially i heard that the consumption the highway is way too high compared to the city. Is that true?

The AWD-i consumption penalty is small but noticeable. I would have a hard time deciding whether to go for it or not.
