Get Started with the Intel® VTune™ Profiler. In this video we will go over the configuration of the VTune Profiler graphical user interface. We will set collection parameters, set up local or remoted data collections and cover a range of views and options. This will allow you to efficiently use VTune Profiler the very first time you open it.

This Intel VTune Profiler Getting Started Video provides a hands-on overview of the graphical user interface, data collection configuration and performance data analysis views.
Together we will set up the following:
• Remote or local data collection.
• Source and binary application file location for source code hotspot and bottleneck identification.
• Hardware events for sampling and sampling intervals
Analysis types that can be configured include:
• hotspots analysis to detect the functions that are consuming the most processor time
• threading analysis to analyze locks and waits such as semaphores, mutexes, and I/O waits
• system overview to explore system resource utilization
• HPC performance characterization to analyze compute intensive applications, memory access, and vectorization
• I/O analysis to analyze disk, network, and system bus throughput and latency
• micro-architecture exploration to identify processor instruction execution pipeline bottlenecks
• memory consumption and access analysis
• GPU offload analysis.
Each analysis type has various configuration options. Many include the option to specify user-mode sampling or hardware event-based sampling.
