Just because the beds will be used for a few nights doesn't mean they have to be destroyed afterwards. The greenest way would be reusing them.

YEAH ABOSOLUTLY THEY SHOULDVE. These athletes have to prefprm at the highest level. They need a GREAT resting place, especially if competing multiple days in a row. Thats insane.

How is that green? The only thing you can do with cardboard bed frames is to send them to a recycling center where they MIGHT get recycled.

Simple metal bed frames can be recycled too, and being metal, are more likely to actually be recycled. Metal frames can also be resold or donated to places like shelters or given to the poor.

What I don’t like is that their way of “going green” isn’t by cutting emissions or any other means of stopping the pollution caused by the event it self but by budget cutting the athletes living quarters (including getting rid of air conditioning and the already mentioned bed issue) and trying to defend their blatant budgeting by saying it’s for the environment.

Being the greenist olympics is good but if the beds can damage their backs befoee the spots, then maybe they should excuse this.

Some athletes stayed in hotels rather than subject their bodies to these ridiculous beds, and I don’t blame them. They look less comfortable than prison bunks, for goodness’ sake!

The cardboard frame seems to be sturdy enough, but the mattresses look pretty rough

I've heard of parents charging rent, but saving it to go towards a house in the future. They still provide the necessities and all that. (I'd assume a part of their allowance or pay if their old enough goes towards the savings)

I am on board that these beds sure do not look comfortable for athletes that need their bodies however they were already present for Tokyo 2020 so this is not only for the Paris Olympics it is by the CIO

These cardboard beds are one of the worst things I've ever slept (my grandpa had one). They are also cheap to make and crazy expencive to buy (I've seen these for 200-300$). Paris can afford normal ones, they just choose not to

i think the athletes should get a better bed because the IOC makes so much money and they wont even spend it on a bed
