I know this is going to sound cracked, but I have beaten the game on unfair. Some units (the barbarian/berserker/fiend) are supposed to die. You use their abilities to deal high damage and constantly resurrect them with your healer. It doesn't matter too much if they come back in the next fight with half health because they will be resurrected anyway. The strategy has worked very well for me and I'd love to see you try it! Either way, I love the series and I can't wait to see more

The trick with having steel on a mana side is realizing it means you can just spam burst on that unit for free any time the side comes up. If you get a dice reuse it goes really out of control, I was generating like 10 mana a turn off of a Leader with a Steel added to a Herbalist's middle side, and then the spell that does 3 flanking damage just clears encounters by itself.

You may think the rng is in the dice, but really a run lives or dies on the items they offer you.

The fact that he could've just used the fiends ability and get two mana as he died, rather than letting the banshee kill him with its passive ability hurts me. That two extra mana would have let him burst the wizard and make him dazed. So it would be possible for his sinews exert to wear off and kill the wizard with another strong attack
