North Korean leader Kim Jong Un recently attended a ceremony for a new mega farm in the east of the country. He said the aim of the project is to grow more vegetables and to improve people's diet.

It comes at a time of worsening food shortages. In a report last October, the UN said people's access to food there is quote "a serious concern" and that some children and the elderly are at "risk of starvation." In state-run media, however, there's little sign of a crisis.

Sad such leaders still exist. The world can be such a better place.

Kim could have been the best humanitarian, if he used his enormous followers for social and economic development rather than making bombs and rockets. No country is attacking North Korea.

They have been starving for years, with children going blind from malnutrition.

Really puts into perspective how free our countries actually are.

Even allowing for media bias (all news sources have a bias to some degree), I gotta say it: North Korea is _one weird place._ The things I've heard/read from defectors have only strengthened my opinion.

Giving him attention is like giving that kid on the playground who misbehave because his parents are too busy so they hire babysitters to take care of him.

The average North Korean is now about 8cm shorter than the average South Korean due to diet and health issues. Despite being chaotic and messy, democracy has a lot going for it.

This country is so utterly bizarre that it boggles the mind.

We are such a strange animal. No wonder space traveling beings want nothing to do with us.

I have to admit, Kim on a horse is way more majestic than Vlad on a horse.

I feel so incredibly sorry for the people of North Korea & can only hope they can one day rise up against a leadership that neither copes or cares.

The Korean footage blows my mind. The absurdity of the manufactured fawning appreciation for their leader and the horse footage that looks like some goofy tongue-in-cheek parody of a 1980's commercial for men's cologne makes me think I'm watching The Benny Hill Show. But then it hit me that no, this isn't slapstick comedy... this is a country taking itself completely seriously in the year 2022.

Oh, and they also happen to have nukes.

While greenhouse gardening will help, small scale aquaponic gardening would make a real difference.
FYI, aquaponic gardening adds the production of fresh water fish like tilapia to provide the greenhouse produce with fertilizer. If I'm not mistaken, a 10 x 10 foot aquaponic greenhouse can feed a family of 4.
