So Terry Bogard. At this point, you've probably heard of him! He's kind a big deal these days but as this video will show you he's kinda always been a big deal. Some people might think Terry Bogards takeover of the fighting game genre is sudden, but its been a long burn to get where we are at today so lets dig into the enigma that is Terry Bogard.

Lets talk everything Terry from his humble beginnings to his far very, very far reach in gaming. Terry has that same appeal as Captain America has in the fact that they're poor kids in the big city that became somebody with nothing but determination and never giving up. Both of them are underdogs who like a good scrap and has hearts of gold and on top of it, they're incredibly humble despite being worldly famous. Very relatable characters to most.

Really hit the nail on why we all love Terry. In a see of super powered martial artists, evil dictators, ninjas, and military assassins, Terry is just a regular dude who likes fighting.

Let's not forget how insane it was that Terry got into Smash. And then Fighting Ex Lair. Mai got into DOA. Geese got into Tekken. And here we are. Terry is in Streetfighter. I still can't believe it even though it makes lot of sese.

Quick note as to _why_ Sol is clearly inspired by Terry: for those who aren't aware, Daisuke Ishiwatari started out in SNK, I think on the team for _The Last Blade._ He worked on a buncha titles before leaving with a group of fellow SNK alumnae to form Team Neo Blood, which was the dev team that made the original _Guilty Gear._ Considering that Terry grew out of Takashi Nishiyama leaving Capcom and moving to SNK, it's kind of like Sol is to SNK as Terry is to Capcom.

As a mexican who always included Terry in my team in KoF 2002 back in the arcades of the early 2000's, seeing him grow in popularity this much brings tears to my eyes, I remember screaming in joy when he was announced for smash.

Just to add to the evidence of Terry’s stardom, back in the late 90’s and early 00’s I was a member of a fighting game message board called Higher Voltage. There was a “Greatest Fighting Game Character of All Time” vote and Terry crushed the competition. I’ll never forget that. 😂
