Leia is the Hero of Star Wars

Yeah that is crazy that people didn't realize Leia was going against all sorts of tropes that were established in that genre simply by not being an actual damsel in distress. If anything they got in her way from escaping in the first film! Lol and outside of New Hope she was always giving orders and thinking 10 moves ahead. One of my favorite scenes in the series is when she strangles Jabba after him forcing her to be his sex slave, she didn't need any help getting her revenge in that moment.

Love and respect George, but after selling the rights, Disney doesn't care what he thinks. They should, but they'll keep spinning out more things with less thought put in. Darn shame.

This is like saying you have a black friend when someone accuses you of being racist. Yeah, theres ONE exception, but the point is leia is one character vs like thirty dudes. She subverts some tropes, but 99% of heros journey trops are taken by the guys.

Its not inherently a problem, but acting like one woman role makes it an equal opportunity cast is kind of ridiculous
