Making a Pastel Chemise a la Reine for a Lavender Festival

I never knew I needed a pastel chemise a la reine until I saw Maggie's and then I decided I needed one immediately. So I made a lavender chemise a la reine! I think it turned out super cute and it was a very quick project and super comfortable to wear. Probably the only thing I could've worn to the lavender festival that didn't give me heat stroke. 10/10 recommend making one, it takes a lot of fabric but it's honestly super easy because it's just gathering a ton of rectangles. One thing I forgot to mention in the video is that I added elastic to the arm ribbons because I didn't end up gathering them enough to be tight on my arm, and honestly I think elastic was a better solution anyways because non elastic things on arms tend to fall down constantly.

I'd love a video on dying fabric! (Also, can confirm, I definitely thought it was intentional until you said otherwise.) <3 great vid!

I'm doing a black Chemise A La Reine, and I got fabric for a darker blue and lighter blue one. I've never really been drawn by the 1700's before, but I was caught by the bug about a month ago and just needed one. I had to put it on hold because I'm working on my Halloween costume and knitting stuff for my new niece, but your video gives me the itch to restart again. I'm going the Laughing Moon pattern and so far it's a great pattern.

Edit: the Laughing Moon pattern had a fitted bodice liner which really helps with finding out where all the gathering goes, plus had less gatherings under the armpit, which was nice. I actually recommend it a lot, but you had a great recommendation for a slightly different way to do it, which I might try on my next one.

This is why we need the youths! They tell us the truth, there are no rules except to be kind. I've never thought of making a colored chemise a la rien!

If you want to make a dye video/series, I would watch the crap out of it! Modern dyeing has been something I wanted to try, but never got around to taking a full course on.

I love the forrest-y Witch Halloween design 😍 I think you'd look so cute in it, and imagine a shoot with Baby Bat! Ahh so cute

"Make it look like a design choice"
Yes, absolutely, this! I decorate cakes for a living, I've done other art over the years, 100% the difference between a pro and a master every time is "I can make this mistake look intentional." Mistakes happen always, every time, no matter how good you are; being able to roll with the mistake and make it look intentional is the true skill.

Every time a costumer I follow makes one of these it climbs higher on my want to do list. This came out beautiful, you really look amazing in purple tones.

The reveal was STUNNING, you looked like you jumped out of a painting!
But I also love how you went in depth at the end. I think a dye video would be really fun :)

Oh yes please! I'd be v keen for a video about fabric dyeing!!! I've been wanting to dye some fabric and yarn but it's super intimidating and there aren't that many videos about it either.

Loved the dress too! You both looked so beautiful

Love how the dress turned out!
I also wanted to say that I really enjoy how you do the rundown at the end of your videos. It's super helpful and interesting for me to hear, especially since I'm more of a beginner sewer

I would love to see a video specific to fabric dying. I've been using Rit dye for years and using their custom color chart to mix specific colors. My fabric seems to always come out differently than the time before. This info you shared here is really helpful too (makes sense why I might not be getting cool tones like I want if I'm not leaving the fabric in the dye long enough)!

Beautiful dress as always. I do love the little hacks or tips you give during your videos, and I would love a 101 on dying fabric.

This dress turned out so cute! The idea to set the gathers in place is very smart. With dresses like this I always wander if the don't split open in the middle between, in this case, hooks and eyes. Also dying video sounds very fun
