I farmed here too. It's less time consuming if you just kill the first two enemies and then the enemy by the bridge right before the blue guy and then rest back at the shrine. Sure you're getting less xp but it close to equals out because killing the bridge guy twice gives the same xp as 5 of the weaker enemies. Also on your way back break through the jars to get money, usually between 20 and 30 each run on top of what you get for killing enemies. Once you get to chapter 2 there are some spots where you can get 1k+ xp ever every minute and 30 seconds, so a few hours of grinding there you can unlock everything.
