Good video lived in wittersham rd in the 80s loved going up to Durham hill to watch the fireworks and play football sledging good old days

very nostalgic, it was better during the 50s and 60, s when i lived there, did return to visit a couple of years ago and so much has changed, not for the better in my opinion though.

The elderly man in the beginning of the video was my father, and when I got round to doing the Downham video, I thought I would re-create the same walk I did with him and then edit him in, even though it was a few years apart. It seemed to work. Sadly, he died in January 2022.

Nice drop of emotional music 😢.I lived at brockman rise & beachborough from 1982 untill 1993 .when I saw the BP garage it made me cry 😢 as my daughter & her posie went there on their bikes for sweets .she passed away 4 th October this year 😢😢 she loved her childhood living there .❤

Such happy memories of living near Beckenham Place Park in the Old Bromley Road, then 220 Moorside Road 1953 -1963! We then moved to Brockman Rise. My Dad worked in Downham Post Ofice most of his life. He used to walk through the Woodland Walk to get there. My Mum would give him her shopping over the counter if she had too much to carry. We went to Good Shepherd Primary School and loved Durham Hill at the back of the School with the Swimming Pool and library at the top of Moorside Road. As lovely a place to live as anywhere I've been since. Thank you Gerry for your nostalgic set of videos.
