The song is so funny...and was even funnier when originally performed due to all of the Hat Acts in country music at the time. Yes, it was a real nickname dreamed up by music critics in the early '90s, Hat Acts. Although cowboy hats were nothing new in country music, of course, that early to mid '90s era in country music was dominated by singers wearing cowboy hats.
