How to open a locked door - Fix faulty stuck lock - Handyman HACK

How to open a door that's locked and cant be opened with the handle or knob. I will show you an easy way to remove the door lock and open it manually as this is a cheap option to open the door rather than kicking the door down. This way the only thing you will need to replace is the door lock which is about 10 dollars. Dont make the mistake of kicking the door down as this is very expensive to fix . By drilling into the back of the door lock we can access the back of the screws and threads, once this is done we then drill out the rivets holding the threads and remove the outer handles. This worked wonderfully! Saved me a call to the locksmith. Note: You might want to add more about how to work the latch to retract the bolt. It proved so tricky to me that I nearly gave up when victory was literally around the corner (it was not apparent to me that I needed to pull two prongs away from the bolt).

I would recommend looking at the other doors in the house to see location of bolts mine were on the top and bottom. Also there's a little hole in the handle to help remove the handle then that plate is removable and you can easily see where the bolts are.this video helped tremendously. Thanks!
