My hopes came true. It had everything I had been dreaming about in an RV.

So I made a list of trails I wanted to hike in Southern California. My first night was 'boondocking' [stayed at a trailhead parking area. I got to take my first shower in an RV. It was 'big enough' to get around and I really liked it.
Second night I boondocked again but suddenly there was no hot water in the shower or any other faucet. I contacted the owner & she had no answers since she bought the RV last November and hadn't had any problems with it. BTW, I was her first customer to rent this RV.

After calling numerous RV dealers and, I couldn' repair facilities close to Plam Spring, I couldn't find anyone that had worked on a Truma hot water heater. Since I really liked staying in it, I chose to find places to take a shower - mostly Anytime Fitness since I was a member. That forced me to stay in town & find an RV campground. That was the really tough part. Those places close at 4 or 5 pm. That's really early for me. Then there was the issue of finding a place that had availability. Another time-consuming job. I'm so used to staying in a motel where there are numerous ones & they stay open 24 hours. RV campgrounds are normally located on the outskirts of towns. Another inconvenience is that if you want to go somewhere in the evening, I found that the campgrounds lock their gates. YUK!!!! Some do give you a code to get back in the gate up until say 10pm. Another inconvenience. AND in the summertime, it doesn't get dark until 8 pm so hanging around and RV campground when I could be hiking trails would be a bummer.

In summary, for right now, I've decided to not be an RVer for the reasons above. I have a 2019 Chevy Express 2500 van that I customized inside. It's really doable. Just not the 'luxury' of that Leisure Travel Unity 24MB.
So it came down to maintenance & RV campgrounds closing times.

When I went to 4 trailheads there was a sign by the paved road where you turn onto a 5-mile dirt road that said 4 wheel drive needed. That killed those fun hikes [I did go back in 2 weeks with my van that has 4x4 & got to do the trails. Awesome stuff.]

I ended up having to take the RV back to the owner after 9 days. I was in desperate need of a shower away from the city, which is where I prefer to be.

If any of you know how to get around these issues, I'd sure like to hear from you.
