BMW 1 Series Old vs New - M140i vs M135i - Quarter Mile DRAG RACE, Rolling Sprint & Brake Test!

Recently, we enlisted the help of our good friend Tom (aka TGE TV) to find out if the new 2020 BMW M135i 2l 4 cylinder with xDrive has what it takes to school the 2019 BMW M140i 3l 6 cylinder on a damp track.

We challenged them head-to-head in the ultimate BMW 1 Series drag race, by doing a quarter mile drag sprint, a rolling sprint and also a brake test! Which car will come out on top? Watch on to find out!

So the older generation is faster at the drag race, destroys the new at the rolling races, has better brake perfomance and sounds nicer. So well done BMW, you did a great job:D

Haha, even on a soaking wet track the M140 wins, the rolling race show how much better it is over the M135. Gota feel sorry for the M135 fan boys, The B58 makes the M140 a proper weapon 💥

Don’t forget that the 140i being RWD only was just a UK thing. In Europe XDrive was an option, and it was actual XDrive, not some lame FWD biased SUV rubbish badged as such.

M135i xdrive has better infotainment system, better interior, better handling in snow, better fuel consumption, maybe a bit more practical, still has PLENTY of power and it can be more family-friendly. For me, F40 is the winner

M135i is a great car, perfect for us UK folk too with that 4wd... but will never replace the M140i!

I’m amazed the new M135 did as well as it did. My guess was the weather because I have the old M140 and it’s ballistic. Off the line I’m not interested really, just feels punishing, but rolling acceleration is proper satisfying. Looks better too imo.
