Ep:405 THYROID, HASHIMOTO AND CELIAC REMISSION

HASHIMOTO’S THYROIDITIS IS AN AUTOIMMUNE DISEASE LINKED TO CELIAC DISEASE VIA GRAIN PROTEIN. DR CYWES DISCUSSED AUTOIMMUNE DISEASE RELATED TO OUR DIET. Even CHILDREN are at risk. Low Carb Healthy Fat eating restores INSULIN SENSITIVITY and reduces INFLAMMATION. MEDICATIONS CANNOT DO THIS. This video outlines a TRANSFORMATION IN HOW TO THINK ABOUT DIET AND INFLAMMATION AND HOW THE BODY RESPONDS. Please leave comments.
Hashimoto’s is pretty clearly derived from wheat toxicity, although as with any auto-immune condition I would recommend ditching both wheat and seed oils.

Was diagnosed with hypothyroidism over 10+ yrs ago and never ever advised on what to eat/not to eat just that I need to continue the pills(Sinthroid) for the rest of my life. Fast forward 10+ years, I had ultrasound and several blood tests of my thyroid gland and epidemiologist said there are several nodules and cysts on the thyroid gland. The only thing he did was increase my dosage of the medicine (as did my past doctor) and tell me to come back in a month. He never advised me to stop eating grains or anything (in fact he said not to stop eating anything and just eat/drink as normal). Only after this video and videos from Dr K Berry and Neisha I am getting my own blood work done (full thyroid panel) to take it to yet another doctor with the results. I truly hope for a better future

I've been in remission from Graves' for 14 years and just started carnivore diet a month ago. I've never been diabetic or a carb addict, but I'm pretty sure I won't be tempted to go back to grains because of this additional info, plus how good I feel, now.

With all due respect, Doctor, I had hypo for some amount of years before I moved to Appalachia. Once here, i hiked and ate healthy. I was doing great for three months. Then the weight gain, hair loss and confusion returned. My GP here caught it. Synthroid, keto and exercise has helped me shed 38 lbs, my mental state is stable and my hair is healthy. It isn't always grain or food related. My previous GP never once checked my thyroid markers. I'm 57!

I have Hashimotos so does my eldest daughter. Years ago I had microscopic colitis when I gave up grains in 2013 that went away.

Finally found an endocrinologist who agreed to look at the full thyroid panel and agreed I could quit cold and see what happens. I don't have Hashimoto, just simple hypothyroidism. Been off thyroid med (levo) for 12 weeks now. The TSH has shot up to 44, but the total & free T4 and total & free T3 are just below range. I have dropped three pounds in that period, not that I have much to lose: male, 65, 5'6" and 134 pounds. Very fit. The high TSH hasn't affected my energy level, nor are there any symptoms of hypothyroidism. The endo thinks I should resume meds but says I'm an anomaly becauseI'm very healthy and energetic. Next labwork is in December, so let's see what happens. And yes: Since going off the Levo my blood pressure improved and I have stopped taking that med (Lisinopril) as well.
I resumed a more strict low carb way in January, currently on one meal a day but not fixated on that. Eat 55-70 grams of protein, 135-150 grams of fat and 10-15 grams of carbs a day.

Dr Cywes as a patient and student of you. LMNT scandal broke with ingredients which I can theorize is upwards of 2 grams based off calories in a packet. I use LMNT but not anymore. I constantly monitored my Blood sugar same time for a week. I slapped a CGM on. Morning BS 86-90 before workout. While working out climbs to 102-109. Used LMNT before workout for a week. BS would drop from 86-90 down to 78-82 after 5 minutes drinking LMNT. And then rise to 116-126 while workout same resistance training. Now I did a week of IQ Ketone drink same time before workout. BS never moved first 5-15 minutes. After maybe 45 minutes workout, would only climb to 99-102 BS. Obviously LMNT is spiking insulin and blood sugar jumping more than normal. But IQ Ketone stays level and prevents BS from rising during workout. Food for thought Dr.

My church is having a “trunk or treat” event and maybe I should show up with meat snacks instead of candy…

I have Hashimoto thyroiditis. My TPO was very high...and it was a Gyn who ordered the test, not my primary. I tried seeing an endocrinologist a few years back, and she never did a full thyroid panel. Even on low carb, I was never told to avoid grains altogether. 😵

Very interesting. I was raised to eat wheat everything, was dx'd with hypothyroidism by the time I was in my 20s. (I went keto/carnivore several yrs ago) My mom has hyperthyroidism, and about 5yrs ago she was dxd with celiac.

ALL GRAINS have gluten. Gluten is not just on wheat. It's a family of proteins. Rice has orzenine. Corn has maize. Gluten-free is not gluten free if they contain any grain

I have Hashi/Hypo. I have lost 40 lbs doing carnivore/keto for the last 5 months. My Endo had to lower my levo and lio a couple of weeks ago. He told me there's a good chance I could get off these meds eventually if I keep losing weight.

Celiac disease with lactose, fructose malabsortion and IgE cross reactivity to so many foods.
Auto immune thyroiditis, Gluten Ataxia.
Yeah for the first time TSH was used as a marker and not the hormones or T3 and T4, and electrosound was taken 2 weeks ago.
Took me 25 years for this diagnosis since I do not develop antibodies.
The carnivore diet/ketogenic diet is perfect for these conditions.
Whenever I mention celiac people thanks just gluten but they forget about rice, corn, soya, milk, eggs and added sugars/additive.
Most likely my metabolic syndromes were a result of my cross reactivity/high fructose/glucose intake and due to the hdl malabsortion.
Now I am going to be tested for Pernicious anemia and Addison s disease.
So pissed that ttg6 was never measured because it affected my central nervous system.

This is off-topic but curious what your response would be to this. I know a woman. She had Stage IV breast cancer. Inoperable. Was given six months to live. She transitioned to a raw vegan diet and has been on it for 20 years. The cancer went away after six months and late into her sixties, she was doing extreme marathons.

How do you explain this? She told me she felt incredible, had boundless energy and was completely free of disease.

You have said that the human body can't digest a lot of vegetables, so how is she managing to nourish her body and exist without meat or animal products. And not only exist, she's doing phenomenally well and feels better than she ever has in her entire life.

For me, it was the opposite. I'm in my 40s. I've been diagnosed with hypothyroidism since 2000. As I started on keto, stopping short with wheat-derived foods of all sorts, and beginning to lose weight, my thyroid medication went from 175mcg to 200, then to 250mcg, which my endocrinologist reluctantly prescribed since it was already high. Although my T4 and T3 were within range, my TSH was manyfold what it should be. My ultrasound exam came out with no abnormalities in my thyroid.

What about hemp seeds and flax seeds (which are both very low carb)?
