Komodo dragons Ivy and Zed are meeting for the first time, as the keepers want to introduce them for breeding. They hope that the first attempt at breeding Komodo dragons at the Bronx Zoo will be a success!

The zoo I intern at, Sedgwick County Zoo in Wichita Kansas, used to have a female Komodo Dragon. But they unfortunately had to re-home her when they found out she was able to lay fertile eggs without having a male. Her enclosure now houses a breeding pair of Black Caimans so at least not having her is giving another species a chance to get their numbers up.
