My favorite part is I can't wait to see what wacky and powerful ideas people come up with to fill out the higher tiers. I do think that cloning should be moved to tier 2 considering things like ripley are tier 2, currently it just feels like a placeholder since no one's made anything for biochemical tech tier 3 (Maybe they could get hyposprays or something?). Really like the change though, I read the design doc for this yesterday before it got added so it was like getting a small sneak peak.

Oooooh I like this. Previously you just picked the same path every game. I know this is less "efficient, " but it's more "eureka" style science. UI is gorg as well on this, though it needs to have some way to notify a user that there is a limit on T3 whether it be a popup or whatever. Maybe the ability to expand your RD server with a new hard drive to add more T3 (rather than build a whole new server)

I had serious gripes about this before I learned that you can still achieve tier 3 with separate servers. This makes things better in a way, the chaotic and non-professional nature of the game will make it so that every player wastes a lot of research points in one server to try and get a piece of tech available in the next, or sabotage a server by going to a tier 3 that they already have in another server, ruining someone else's work and progress as a result.

Perfect SS14 analogy.

I hoped they would get the paradise station tech tree, kinda like their style os researching kinda dynamic, or smth like that, I was so crazy in R&D for some time that the start was like clockwork to me, and everyone that goes R&D dies when there a lot of people on the line, so much text, but love the researching part

What cool and useful unlocks at Science's disposal. Too bad people will still only ever go for the Ripley's and aforementioned flamethrower :/

imo the only thing that should be chsnged is cloning being tier 3, because that means when med gets bombed, especially lategame, sci can do nothing to help, and early game it will be impossible to unlock since you need so many points. i think tier 2 for cloning and tier 3 for chem tech would be better honestly. fills in to "what niche does sci want to fill" rather than "are you forced to choose cloning this shift?"

I will say this the new tech rework is really nice but having, duel discipline or one main discipline and a sub discipline. That way you can max out two tech one being mean the other a sub discipline witch cost more points to finish.
