I'm a concert whore, I've been to over 100 in my lifetime, and Chris Isaak has one of the best voices I have ever seen. An absolutely great song writer. Underrated and underappreciated.

Forgive me if you have read this comment on other Chris Isaak pages, but if you are a fan, you are going to want to visualize this. There used to be a fabulous outdoor venue in Austin called The Backyard. Owned and operated by a fabulous man, a true giver, named Tim O'Connor. About ten years ago, I took my family to a Chris Isaak concert there. My family was not familiar with him. There was standing room only, even at this huge venue, and it was packed. We had decent seats, which means we sat on folding chairs 100 feet from the stage. Music started, crowd went wild. Chris is some kind of entertainer - all energy, delicious voice and he leaves everything on the stage. The band, of course, was on an elevated and covered stage. It began to rain. No one moved. Chris and his band kept singing, but they were clearly aware it was raining. It rained harder. No one moved. Band played on. It began to thunder. No movement in the audience, except for a few of us searching for paper, scarves or our mother's old raincap. Rain turned into a downpour. Nobody moved. You could see the amazement on Chris's face that no one left or took cover and without warning, he walked down the stairs and began to walk among the crowd, still singing and playing. Now, THAT is artistry. Needless to say, the crowd went crazy. I have since seen him at the Moody Theatre in Austin, where Austin City Limits is filmed. Not my favorite venue, as people yak way too much there, as if they were sitting in some obscure bar listening to a filler band. But that evening at The Backyard, in a pouring rainstorm, was a night to remember. Wish you'd been there!
