In discussing Russell's Paradox, Jade at Up-and-Atom says that a set can be a member of itself, but gives no examples. Canada is not a province. Google says that set theory is the branch of mathematics which deals with the formal properties of sets as units without regard to the nature of their individual constituents. In your example, the geographic entity must be a province of Canada in order to qualify as an element within or of "C", that is the nature of each element in your example, so the nature of the element(s) is important. Confusing.
