Ummmm, How Did We Miss This?

I have a relatively short video today for you today. I still don't know what to make of it, but it is very interesting, whether or not it is what it looks like.

In 2015, an Episode of Survivorman aired (link below). And at the 35:35 minute mark, for approximately 3.7 seconds, the likeness of a bigfoot, sasquatch, or almas-like creature is plainly visible. The setting is in the Transylvanian Alps, in Romania. What better place for high strangeness?

Now, Les Stroud (Survivorman) is agnostic on the matter of bigfoot, but he still knows his stuff, and has expressed a great deal of interest on the subject. So I'd assume that he would have mentioned it if it was something of note, but what if he hasn't seen it yet?

Oh also, the figure seems to blink, but that very well could be nothing more than foliage shaking.

I've hunted since I was 6 years old. During the day, especially when hunting from a deer stand, as the light changes while moving through the woods, it is very easy to see things that simply aren't there. Shapes that I have been convinced are animals resolve into brush tops, color swatches on fallen logs, etc. Saying that, I cannot say how many times these shapes resolved themselves into animals that are standing stock still, completely un-moving. Deer learn to check deer stand locations as they cross their territory. I had one doe, in particular, that would approach from behind a tree with a fork in it around 4 feet up. She would walk to that tree and turn her head to one side so that all that was visible to me was her eyeball looking at me through the fork. She would stay there for 15-45 minutes just watching, never moving, until she was confident that I wasn't a booger and it was safe to move through.

Thank you for another video. I look forward to the next. I hope your illness passes soon.

RIP to your longstanding illustrator Bob. His family is certainly in our prayers as are you and his friends in this tough time.

You know Les Stroud is pretty into the Sasquatch topic himself, maybe a Bob Gymlan interview for the future?

Hello Bob, im so sorry to hear of Freds passing. I find it strange yet somehow comforting that his illustrations are now and always will be a part of all of us, just like your stories. This is a very special channel to me and thasands of others and to lose any part of it is a tragedy. Please give my deepest condolences and i hope his friends and family know that through his artwork he was a great part of tens of thousands of lives.

Les is surprisingly active on YouTube and really enjoys the topic as a whole. It'd be awesome if you could interview him about this/his encounters over the years.

I will miss Fred. He sounded like a good man and I definitely loved his artwork.
Here's to a good man, and Bob Gymlan for bring us these fascinating cryptid videos and explaining how we shouldnt just laugh off something without giving the slightest inclination of critical thinking that it just may be that we are NOT masters of our world as we like to think. Arrogance in thinking we have seen and catalogued every bit of flora and fauna and our laughter at anything that challenges that attitude will be our undoing.

I am so sorry to learn of the passing of Fred. His artwork complimented your phd analysis of the subjects and his memory will live on through your brilliant work as your channel continues to grow.
New subscribers will go watch your old videos and discover Fred's talent for the first time and just admire his ability.
I lost my Pops (his name was also Bob) to cancer in 2018 so I can relate. I don't think there is a person alive today that has not lost at least 1 family member to cancer .
Again Bob sorry to learn about Fred

You should try reaching out to Les about this.

No, seriously. Bob, he was willing to risk his career (at least with Discovery) over his Bigfoot series. Besides being one of the coolest dudes on the planet, Les is also extremely personable. It really wouldn't be out of his wheelhouse to talk with you on this.

Hi I'm from hungary, and I do research into subjects like these, I have heard quite a few bigfoot encounters taking place here, and a few months ago I have talked to a guy who seen a bunch of them in transylvania (Romania), I also have found quite a few wood tent structures in the forests around here, when I was hiking. Just my 2 cents.

Edit: multiple people asked me for photos about these tent structures, in my latest video I present 2 of them at the 28:20 mark.

In an interview with Wes Germer, Les Stroud talked about how he’s had experiences on the show that were too far into the unexplained realm, and his producers have those parts edited out. So, it’s very likely that if the producers had noticed this figure, it wouldn’t have made the cut.

I think it's a rock with a lump on top that looks vaguely like a head. The "face" is a result of yellowed plant matter being out of focus in the background, then further losing quality when the video was compressed for storage and transmission, then compressed *again* by Youtube's surprisingly lossy algorithm. The change in shape of the "eye" is also explained by the motion of the camera having a small effect on how that section of the screen is compressed.

When the episode was being edited, the recording was almost certainly at a higher resolution than 1080p and hadn't been through two rounds of compression. The background would still be out of focus, but it would still be clear enough that it's some dying plants and a rock.

Thanks Bob and sorry for your loss, as cliche as that may sound. I’m sending prayers for Fred’s family. His art and your narration made for some of my favorite content.

There are legends in the Romanian mountains that describe cryptids and some of them are remarkably similar with Bigfoot type creatures. There is the mythological "Omul pădurii" which would be translated as "The man of the forest". He would be known for punishing people that are too loud or that are yelling in the forest during the night. He is also known in certain areas of Romania as a creature with certain physical characteristics like he is covered with hair from top to bottom and he has humungous feet. He is sometimes described as being a deformed "carnivorous" human with fang-like teeth. He can be heard singing with a rough voice and breaking logs by stepping on them during the night. His female equivalent would be known for crying in the forest to attract humans, especially children which she would kidnap and eat. In certain areas she possesses benevolent qualities and would be seen as a spirit that helps people lost in the wilderness find their way back to civilisation but in different areas only the malevolent traits are exhibited. Both would have supernatural qualities like transforming themselves into a powerful wind. There are probably thousands of myths and legends about different beings in the mountain villages of Romania. Many people that visit those mountains see or hear strange things. The locals coexist with both wild animals and the perceived supernatural ones. In certain villages they would have certain rituals performed to keep these forest entities out of the village.

Prayers to his family and friends. He was an amazing artist. Coming from someone who can't draw a straight line, It amazes me when I see the details, and how much he captures the moments when you are explaining what's going on in the videos. RIP Mr Dunn.

I’m a Transylvanian native, and I often say there’s a reason Transylvania is known for creepiness beyond Bram Stoker’s version of Dracula. My grandparents were sheep farmers with land that included forest, and my grandparents were always adamant that I do not go in the forest after the sun sets, even if I hear noises, like a person or animal in distress. Do not go to help, it’s a trap. We often heard calls that sounded like a lost lamb coming from the forest at night; my grandpa would tell me it’s better to lose a lamb than venture in the forest in the dark. I’ve since inherited the property and as I’m an equine veterinarian, I’ve opened up an enquire vet clinic and horse sanctuary (horses are still used in daily life in the more rural places like where I live). I’ve seen plenty of weird but hulking masses making their way through the forest just beyond the tree line. There are times when the horses will panic and huddle in the corner of the field furthest away from the forest. Yes we have bears and wolves in Transylvania, but I think we also have many other creatures not accepted by the mainstream. But ask any local in the remote villages in rural Transylvania; they know what’s afoot.
