Couldn't imagine the despair of knowing you took an innocent life accidentally but because you were too careless

Edit: I'm tired, I'm not attacking them and I'm not attacking you dear reader, I've thrown rocks over cliffs as well. Throwing rocks from cliffs when there are trails and climbing spots beneath is careless. Not knowing there are trails and popular climbing routes there also adds to it being careless. Just because you don't know doesn't mean you aren't careless, just because it's fun and normal doesn't mean it's not careless just because it's usually not a big deal doesn't mean it's not careless. Not knowing the definition of careless doesn't mean that it's not careless.
This comment was about the despair of accidentally taking a life not about if doing dumb stuff is being careless or not. It is careless but it's not unusual or weird or something not any guy would do. Because it might not be a human, it might be an animal, a bird, anything, you don't know HENCE ITS FKN "CARELESS"
"CARE LESS", YOU DON'T CARE WHAT'S UNDERNEATH BECAUSE YOU ONLY DO IT AS "HAHA ROCK GOES DOWN MAKES SOUND AFTER WHILE OGA BOOGA"
Y'all making me crash out with your dumb dumb one thought reaction comments for 2 months straight.

Not even charged with manslaughter or gross negligence?

If this is the incident from 2007, the man who died was named Pete Absolon. He was wearing a helmet, but the rock was big enough to shatter it. He was also using climbing equipment, so, unlike in the video, he didn't fall. His body just hung suspended in the air. His climbing partner knew almost immediately that he was dead, couldn't get him down without risking dying himself and, thinking that the rock had been loose and fell naturally and that more were likely to follow it, he descended the cliff in a panic, thinking he would also die.

The folks at the top weren't teenagers, but a group of brothers in their twenties. The fellow who tossed the deadly rock was, in fact, an Iraq veteran. They'd hiked up the other side of the slope and hadn't seen anyone else in hours, so they thought they were alone. They'd thrown several rocks from a different cliff face in order to watch them fall. The killing rock was the first one any of them had thrown from that particular side, though, so the climbers had no warning. The man who threw the rock did indeed look before throwing it, but an overhang blocked his view, so he couldn't see the climbers. It wasn't until he moved to a different spot to get a better view of the rock as it fell that he first saw the climbers and witnessed the rock striking Absolon in the head. He was too far away to call down to the surviving climber, so he and his brothers rushed down the path they'd taken up and hurried around the base to find the survivor and tell him what happened. The brother who threw the rock was fully expecting, in the short term, to get yelled at and maybe physically attacked and, in the long-term, to go to jail. But the survivor, instead, forgave him. They cried and hugged and prayed together. The surviving climber ended up staying with the brothers at their camp while waiting for the rescue helicopter to arrive and get Absolon's body down from the harness. They talked a lot. Ultimately, neither the climbing partner nor Absolon's family ended up pressing charges. They all came to the conclusion that it was a horrible, freak accident and that nothing could have been done differently to avoid it.

I used to be a car mechanic and witnessed many accidents. I hope everyone understands not to take safety for granted. Whatever you do, proper safety measures are essential. Instead of relying on others for your safety, remember that you can’t guarantee when they might lose sight of you or due to small mistake by other

Lesson Learned: Check if anyone is climbing before throwing

Edit 1: Or wear a helmet, that too!
Edit 2: I just made chat commit debate over a helmet and rocks 💀
Edit 3: Y’all are still arguing?

The despair of someone who took a life unknowingly is nothing compared to someone who lost a person due to the negligence and carelessness of another.

“How do you plead?”
“Your honor, I’m just a jackass”
“You’re free to go now.”

Anyone know why exactly charges were not filed? Two boys did the exact same thing with a log that killed a woman and they were both charged with murder..

Pro tip: Always check for climbers in the mountain before throwing rocks

The consequences are less dire if you confess. Lying will only make things worse in these types of situations

That would be accidental manslaughter and you could face 20 years in prison for it.

And that’s why you never throw rocks down climbing cliffs. A good thing to note is yell “rock” if ur climbing and u accidentally break one and it starts falling.
