I totally agree with opinion of double wall is better – but at least three maybe four times I have failed to be able to purchase either the X mid solid or the X mid non-solid, and finally got the X mid pro which of course was very problematic with condensation in a rain storm or at high elevation, freezing, next to a lake.

Dan is always incredibly attentive to any inquiries and gave me some tips on condensation. Also, as you probably all know, he's ramped up production and I was finally able to buy an X mid solid which will arrive sometime March 2023!

I really appreciate these videos and hope to get more and more fit. I'm 67 and a 9 mile hike up to a lake, especially after vaccine and Covid, to be far more exhausting than I'm used to. An old geezer walking hundreds of miles gives me hope.

Now about that mortgage....

Glad to hear your thoughts about the X-Mid are still positive. Good to know you kept dry throughout the rains. Maybe next time you’ll get some winds to test it. Happy to see you’re still smiling about that tent!

Thanks for the rain review. I just bought one and appreciate your feedback on how it performs in wind and rain. My sil nylon tent always sagged when wet but I put up with it because it was so light. I’m hoping the Durston Solid is the sweet spot! Thanks for all of your effort to post a honest review. Happy trails!

I love the in-tent footage! I was worried that this tent would feel too cramped inside, but it seems perfectly fine, especially with the large vestibules. Great video!

I camp with my X-Mid 1P2nd version from a canoe and motorcycle. So far, 12 nights in Michigan. Some easy to mid rain, and mid winds. No weather problems inside the tent at all. An irksome thing is the dinky string and thimble rigs to secure doors and screen are a pain. I intend to sew in some common shoe strings in their place. The spacious vestibules are very appreciated.
The “modified pyramid” cross-section sheds wind very nicely - almost as good as a tepee.

Great to have impressions from someone coming from Hilleberg background. I had the first version of xmid 2p but sold it mainly due to mesh inner, which is not working for me in the Nordic climate where I live. Too drafty. I do own a very light and drafty solo tent but I also own Enan, for more windy trips, which I can also use above treeline to some extent. I'm now thinking should I replace that with the new solid xmid 1 or 2.

Nice review of the tent, both the first impressions video and this one. You mentioned that you are not a fan of dyneema tents, but I did not hear the reasons why. Would you be kind enough to explain your reasons or point me to a video where you talk about that topic?

looks a little tight shoulder to shoulder?. Also have you had any issues with condensation since you're touching the inner?.

What are your thoughts about the size of the footprint?
